The “Fabrican” -This is Just About the Stupidest Fashion Innovation I’ve Ever Seen

The great thing about online social networks is that you unearth a lot of rare gems when it comes to web content. Since New York Fashion Week has been going on, there has been a lot of fashion-related coverage lately that is making its way to the forefront of the news.

However, when I saw a trending article on Digg about “Fabrican,” I did a double-take.

If you follow fashion, then you know that the vast majority of fashion that makes it onto the runway offers little in the way of practicality. You could argue that haute couture is little more than performance art. But at least all of those crazy fashions you see on Project Runway are real clothes made up of real fabric. The Fabrican, however, offers something even more esoteric than the latest line of quirky clothing. (more…)

Jason Wu Unveils New Line of Fashion Accessories

Jason Wu held a star-studded runway show at New York Fashion Week on September 10th, complete with fabulous new styles, a great goodie bag, and a glowing blue runway. While Wu showcased his spring collection, he also took the opportunity to unveil his brand’s new line of fashion accessories. The 27-year-old designer, who shot to international fame when Michelle Obama chose his glamorous appliquéd white dress for her Inauguration gown, was educated at Parson’s in New York City and previous to that lived in Taipei, Paris, Tokyo, and Vancouver. Before launching his own line, the worldly Wu interned for Narciso Rodriguez, himself a favorite of iconic ladies like Michelle Obama and the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Taking the step into fashion accessories marks a giant step for Wu and his nascent brand.
